Dethatching Service

Premium Lawn Care Services You Can Trust

Lawn Dethatching
Suburban Outdoor Services provides professional lawn dethatching to restore your lawn's health. Over time, dead grass clippings, leaves, and organic debris build up faster than they can decompose, creating a thick layer of thatch between your grass and soil.
Thatch blocks water, fertilizer, and oxygen from reaching grass roots. Your turf thins out, bare patches appear, and your lawn stays weak because nutrients can't penetrate that dense layer of dead material.
What is Thatch?
Thatch is a layer of dead grass, leaves, stems, and roots that haven't broken down into the soil. A thin layer under half an inch is fine. But when thatch buildup exceeds that, it creates a barrier. Water runs off instead of soaking in. Fertilizer sits on top instead of feeding roots.
You'll notice the signs: spongy spots when you walk across the yard, water pooling on the surface, grass that looks unhealthy despite your best efforts.
How Dethatching Works
Our lawn dethatching service uses commercial power rake equipment with metal tines that penetrate the thatch, pulling it up to the surface. After dethatching your lawn, we haul away all the debris. What's left is clean soil ready to absorb water and nutrients.
Spring dethatching gives your lawn a fresh start for the growing season. Locally owned and operated, we're committed to providing the professional care your lawn needs to thrive.

Spring Clean Up
Spring clean up are essential to jump-start your lawn! A cleanup includes the removal of all leaves and yard debris from the lawn and all landscape beds, and a dethatching to all turf areas. All sidewalks, driveways and outdoor surfaces will be blown clean from debris that have accumulated over the winter.
At the time of the clean up, our highly-trained staff will keep an eye out for winter harms and other turf diseases. We can prevent any long-term damage your lawn may be at risk for. With your yard free of debris and thatch, it will finally be able to receive the nutrients it needs to grow healthy. All debris will be disposed of offsite, unless instructed by the homeowner to do otherwise. This service is performed in April/Early May.
